Last week I gave you an overview of the PixSxan Mat, showing you how it scanned & cut out shapes. Today I have a LIVE demo for you, via screen capture. This 8-minute demo is for folks who might want start scanning, but who may be intimidated- but I’ll walk you through it!
In this video, I walk you through how to import your file, which icons to use, how to trace, and even adding an offset (border) around a stamped image.
And if you are wondering how this process stacks up to the Brother Scan N Cut, stay tuned…. I have a comparison in the works.
I hope you found this helpful- I know that some crafters are a bit tech-adverse, and sometimes seeing someone go though the process with you step-by-step helps make it less intimidating.
OH…and if any of you have a better shortcut for the “offset” thing…. please let me know!

Hi Jenny, Instead of erasing the inside image of your pixie girl, Take, the cut lines and move off slightly from your image, then do an Object, Ungroup. Click anywhere on your inside cut line to select it and press the delete button. This should remove the original inside cut line. Or, you could also tell it not to cut that line if you should ever change your mind and want to cut right on the line with no spacing. I am using the Designer version of Silhouette Studio so I’m not sure if this option is available on the free software. I hope this makes sense.
Hi Jenny,
Your videos are the greatest! I always check your website before choosing a new craft product.
This is how I delete unwanted lines from an object. It’s easy and oh-so-quick.
1. Select the item.
2. Click “Object”, then “Release Compound Path”. At this point all the pieces will be selected in their own separate little box.
3. Hold the shift key and click on the outline (as in your example). Now everything except the outline will be selected.
4. Hit “delete” to remove all the unwanted (selected) parts.
Hope this helps.
