Remember that part in Alice in Wonderland when she finds the little cake that says “Eat Me?” Well, that passage sparked my creativity this week and, paired with my new love of Collage Clay by Plaid, I was inspired to upcycle a mint tin and create today’s tutorial for you!
For this tutorial you’ll need:
- MOD PODGE Plaid Collage Clay
OR - Golden Artist Colors – Light Molding Paste
- palette knife
OR - old gift card
- piping bags and tips
- candy-themed buttons or charms
- MOD PODGE Drizzle Paint
OR - Puffy paints
- Glitter (optional)
- recycled tin
Now, I could take a ga-jillion photos…but I’d rather just show you in a video!
Have fun, and if you have any questions, just ask!

Hi Jenny! This is just so neat!! I saw in your ‘assembly’ process that you at the end went back to add a larger dollop of the college clay for the buttons to adhere too – so the smaller drizzle wasn’t enough? Also the glitter at the end … if you wanted a more glittery look would one consider adding glitter during every step to make sure it’s embedded during the drying of each layer?
Just great stuff!!
-thanks as always,
Cris
Cris- I added the extra dollop because all of the white Collage Clay was dry and hard…and the line of pink piping had begun to set up. I thought it would be better to be safe than sorry, so I added an extra dollop for the button shank to settle in to. And yes, if you want SUPER GLITTER, add it at each step! 🙂
