Ok crafty friends- today I have the EASIEST 5-minute craft ever for teachers, crossing guards/bus drivers, even little neighbor gifties. Behold the 5-minute Post-it Note Holder!
You’ll need: (affiliate links below)
- Heavy-weight cover or cardstock cut to 3 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches (you can get 4 out of a 12X12 sheet of paper by making your first 3.5 inch cut, then rotating the paper 90 degrees and then making the other 3.)
- Dry adhesive such as an adhesive tape, red-line tape, or even a tape runner
- scissors
- Scoring board (optional)
- Punches for adding layers (optional)
- Stickers, bows or something for the top. You do kind of need an embellishment for top to add weight so it stays closed
- Staples Mini Gel-Pens.
I made you a video, so you can watch me make it in real time- REALLY- 5 minutes!
There you go. I actually make these with my daughter’s elementary school. (No kidding- over 100 kids!) We pre-cut and scored the paper and made the notches. But the kiddos did the assembling and decorating, and they ALL could do it- from first graders and up!
This is a great tween/teen craft too- lots of gifties for the family and pretty easy on the allowance.
If you make these, please share a photo on our Facebook Page! We’d love to see.

I love these! Perfect to have on hand for colleague birthdays, too. What were you using as you scored the paper? It looked like it had “score” ridges. Thanks. Merry Christmas!
Thank you! Great tutorial!
How cool! I’m going to make some today!
Fab and quick wee gift. What a lovely idea. Lee x
Great idea! Please tell me, what was that scoring board you used? I never saw that before.
Anne- it’s the Martha Stewart Crafts Scoring board, and it’s my favorite: http://www.crafttestdummies.com/craft-product-reviews/craft-product-review-martha-stewart-crafts-scoring-board/ Happy Crafting! -J
Thanks, Jenny! These are easy, quick and look great! Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much for sharing this video with us. We love stealing your ideas! I think I’ll make them for my older granddaughters for Valentines Day! You’re the greatest!
Love it! Quick and easy to make up a bunch and have them on hand. Thanks Jenny!
I love this idea and am definitely going to try it!!!
My aunt and I were interested in making these for Christmas quick gifts this year. But when we went to Staples they didn’t have pens this small. We’ve looked on-line for them with no luck either. Do you have a suggestion as to where we might find them?
You can find them on Amazon.com or Staples.com. You might want to ask the clerk at your local store if they have them or can order them in for you. I’ve also included a handy shopping link in the post. Hope this helps!
