California Crafty Field Trips: Two Local Craft/Scrapbooking Stores

August 10, 2011

One of the things I just LOVE about traveling is the chance to meet other crafters and visit local guilds & shops! Well, last month while I was vacationing in Carlsbad, I took an afternoon to visit a few local stores.

First I visited  Gee Gee’s Stamps ‘n’ Stuff. Located on 2965 State Street, Carlsbad, this cute little shop is tucked away in a busy “Main Street” type of thoroughfair. But don’t let the small width of the store front fool you- this gem is packed FULL of stamping and mixed-media goodies!

I loved their window display of "cupcakes."

Yes, it WAS a paper craft emporium!!! Chock full of Tim Holtz goodies, embossing powders, stamps, brass stencils, mistable sprays, inks, dyes, pads, die cutting materials…oh, it went on for DAYS!

The displays inside were lovely, too.

All "Tim" goodness!

Of course, a few things caught my eye and I had to make a purchase. Wanna see what I bought?

I bought some Radiant Rains, stamps, and stickers- fun!

After we finished up at Gee Gee’s, we high-tailed it to a local scrapbook store called Ever After Scrapbooks.

Ever After Scrapbooks, Carlsbad CA

This 4,000-square foot store is HUGE…and chock-full of all kinds of scrapbooking supplies. It’s organized by theme, so you can easily find just what you’re looking for. There is also a “yard sale” section, where folks bring in their gently-used supplies to sell. They get store credit, and YOU get a great bargain! Every store needs a section like this!

I also love that the store is dotted with breast-cancer survivor art. They sponsor a “Survivor Crop” and raise funds to support breast cancer research.

This mixed-media bra is just amazing!

Of course, I saw some goodies there that I couldn’t pass up….

Yummy patriotic papers, Glimmer Mist, and embellishments!

If you are in the area, I highly recommend you head in and support your local businesses! Stay tuned, because tomorrow I have  special post coming on how YOU can support local businesses!
