With so much to look at and experience at CHA this year, it was really difficult to pick out just a few of my favorite products. I sat and debated and crossed a few off of my list. But when it came down to it, I chose the ones that really made me go, “WOW” and the ones that I knew I wasn’t going to be able to live without. These were the ones where when I saw them for […]
Team Craft Test Dummies showed up at the recent Winter CHA show en force. We had four reporters as well as “mama” Craft Test Dummy herself. We all had a great time, laughed like crazy people and learned TONS! While most of Team CTD goes to the show with a Media badge I am the only team member who is registered on my own as a CHA Designer Member. In order to become a CHA Designer Member you need […]
If you recall, Megan Elizabeth rocked the paper crafting world last year when she introduced Paper Layerz– coordinated color blocked paper that is specially engineered to work beautifully with die-cutting machines. This year Megan is upping her game by adding super-juicy pigment stamp pads, foam adhesives, and embellishments to her line. Lucky for us, she took a moment to share them with us! We’ll have full reviews coming soon!
Looking for a way to use your manual dies without all of that cranking? The eBosser by Craftwell is the new kid on that particular block, and it’s got a nice price tag AND multiple safety features. We’ll have a more in-depth article soon, but in the meanwhile, check out the demonstration I recorded at CHA Winter 2012: ….and YES, it cuts all the dies and embossing folders on the market! Whoo-hoo!
I’m a fabric and fiber crafter at heart, and CHA Winter 2012 certainly did not disappoint. Between demos and events, I hit the aisles to check out what was new in the crafting world, keeping an eye out for exciting developments in the fabric, needle, and yarn arts. Per usual, I saw way more great products and ideas on the show floor than I could ever fit into one roundup post, but here are some of my very favorite finds: […]
So, as I was preparing my photos for another round of Winter CHA 2012 “booth eye-candy,” I realized that I had taken a LOT of photos in the Prima booth! Â Um, in fact, I took SO many pictures of SO many gorgeous products and projects that I had a really hard time narrowing down my favorites. Â So I had to make an entire post of *just* Prima photos! Â I should probably be more specific…I fell in love with the new […]
On Monday, I attended the Lion Brand Yarn Winter 2012 CHA Fashion Show, and it rocked my fiber-loving socks off! Not only did I get to have a catwalk photo op with the lovely Vanna White, I also scored a prime seat right near the action, and was completely blown away by the talent of the emerging designers who were showcased at the event. Dress by emerging designer Elissa Eriksson. Dress by emerging designer Heather Orr.Want to see more high-fashion […]
Every now and then, a product swoops in like a stealth bomber- one that is new, has little fanfare, but kinda blows up and makes everyone take notice. Such was the case of Shoe Attitudes by Kodak. It’s a printable film you can affix to your tennies- or other surfaces- to make your kicks rock out. Watch this demo from the booth: Congrats to Shoe Attitudes by Kodak for winning the Innovations Award- VERY impressive! Look for a full review […]
Now that I’m back home (all 100 miles away from Anaheim) and scrolling through the hundreds of photos I took during my two days at Winter CHA 2012, I’m trying to think about what my absolute FAVORITE new releases were. Â There are a lot of things I’m excited to get my hands on and play with, to be sure, and there was no shortage of eye candy at the show. I’m a huge fan of Christy Tomlinson, so I was […]
“WOW!!!” That’s the one word that I can use to describe my first day at CHA (Craft and Hobby Association). Ok, ok… there are some more words I can use to describe CHA… When I first walked in with fellow Craft Test Dummy, Jen Clark, I wouldn’t say I was overwhelmed, but I was definitely in shock and awe mode. There are between four and six miles of pure crafty goodness displayed in the most amazing booths all over the […]
Part of the fun of CHA is seeing your friends in “craft land.” One of the nicest, sweetest ladies in Craftlandia is Kathy Cano-Murrillo, AKA the Crafty Chica. In addition to the many hats she wears (novelist, craft designer, and product designer, just to name a few) she also is a tour guide! No, I’m not talking about her upcoming Crafty Chica Art Cruise- I’m talking about the new products at iLovetoCreate.com! As I mentioned before, I’m super excited about […]
Today was my first day the the CHA Winter Show- and, after hugging, like 20 people and catching up, my first CTD event of the show was attending the Innovations Showcase “Hot 20.” The Innovations showcase is where the industry submits new/updated products for the press to get sneak peek, as well as a one-minute “speed dating” description. It’s a great place to see what is new and noteworthy! I was impressed with quite a few new products- including the […]
