While I’m away at BlogHer 10 and hanging out at the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia offices, papercrafts specialist and dear friend Lisa Falduto has her report of trends at CHA. Enjoy! Flowers, flowers everywhere! That was a constant theme as I walked the trade show floor at the Craft and Hobby Trade show this past week in Rosemont, Ill. It is almost safe to say that I saw some type of flower in every booth at the show! I love […]
Thanks for leaving comments… yes, some of you are “GREEN” with envy…but…at least one of you will be seeing green in the near future. The winner of the Cricut Imagine sunglasses is…. LISA ANN! She said, Oooo, I would love to win the glasses! I am SO jealous that you got to go, got a goodie bag and most of all get an Imagine!!! How in the world to you score a gig like that? Hard work, passion ans a […]
Westcott (scissors) made a “splash” at CHA summer, teaming up with Scrapbook Royalty to host a fabulous party and silent auction to benefit the Wyland Foundation. The marvelous designers of CHA made and donated artworks (some fine art, some altered, some wearables) that fit in with the “Under the Sea” theme. The party was MC’d by Marisa Pawelko of the Modern Surrealist, and Elena Lai Etcheverry of Scrapbook Royalty. (By the way, SR is a wonderful charitable organization & you […]
I wrote this article for CraftsUnleashed, but I wanted to share it over here, too- because this is a trend that isn’t slowing down any time soon! What is “CHA”? It’s the Craft and Hobby Association trade show and it happens twice a year. I’ve just returned from the 2010 Summer show in Rosemont, Illinois, and I thought I’d share some of the trends I spotted. Following last year, BANNERS are still hot, hot, hot! Banners made of paper are […]
So you probably saw my footage of the Cricut Imagine & video I posted of David Garibaldi, but I wanted to share with you what was actually IN our goody bag that we received as we walked out the door. You can’t imagine…. A cool tee-shirt, a full-content cartridge (I got Happy Hauntings), a pair of “Imagine” sunglasses…and…. A GOLDEN TICKET! Ok, not really. No Willy Wonka here…but it’s a certificate for a Cricut Imagine when it’s released in September. […]
Another debut at CHA Summer 2010 are the new coordinated stamp lines from Ranger Industries designed by Claudine Hellmuth (aka Collage Artist) called “Creative Layers.” Her new stamps features both foam stamps and coordinating line designs for easy layering and mixing and matching. Claudine has a whole line of fine-arts supplies for discerning crafters, so it’s no surprise that she uses that aesthetic for stamping. Take a look at her demo video: As I always, say, Claudine is just SO […]
One of the fabulous things about walking the floor at CHA Summer 2010 was checking out all of the fun techniques and make-and-takes at the show. I LOVE Tombow markers and adhesives, so I stopped by to see what was up there. Lucky for me, designer Marie Browning was on hand to show me a thing or two using the Dual Brush Markers. Take a look: Fun, right? Thanks, Marie, for taking the time to share with us!
It was another fun-filled day here at CHA Summer in the lovely (if humid) Rosemont, Ill. So here are the highlights of my day in pictures: So that’s the overview for today! I realized that I spend most of my time today at booths looking/trying/talking about DIES! Guess what we’ll talk about tomorrow??
One of the things I really admire about Provocraft is their releases of new products (such as the Cricut Imagine!) For example, they have teams of folks on the show floor just waiting to give your a personalized tour. I had some time and taped part of my “tour” for you- after all, the Imagine both prints AND cuts, and there are a lot of cool functions to this machine. Here’s PART of what I got- YouTube will only allow […]
