The world of fine art and craft draw ever closer with texture pastes and gels entering the crafting mainstream. Formerly the domain of fine artists, who used texture gels in fine art, now the average jane crafter can use products like Faber-Castell’s Asphalt and/or Concrete texture pastes to create dimensional surfaces on cards, ATC’s canvases and other mixed-media projects! Today I’m taking a look at them both. Disclosure: samples were provided for review purposes. Opinions are my own and based […]
Video Review: Ranger Ink and Tim Holtz New Alcohol Inks
Howdy crafters! Today I wanted to show you the six new colors of alcohol inks that were debuted at this last CHA by Tim Holtz and Ranger Ink. If you are not already familiar with alcohol inks, I suggest you check out this review I did of them a while back for CTD. Check out the video below for more information on these fabulous new colors. So what do you think, crafters? As I mentioned these are […]
CHA 2014 – Tim Holtz Idea-ology Booth Tour
Hello Crafters! It was a great season for Tim Holtz‘ idea-ology line with so many new products to ogle over! Personally, I love the new adornments, letterpress blocks, Found Relatives cards and ephemera packs! But don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty more to see and get excited over! I filmed a little video tour of the booth, but as it’s movin’ and groovin’ on the show floor, I dance around other crafty patrons and the camera gets a little shaky. […]
Recycled Domino Craft on CraftsUnleashed
As many of you know, I’m the Editor over at www.CraftsUnleashed.com, the blog that ‘s sponsored by ConsumerCrafts. I got to post one of my favorite crafts over there, altered dominoes. I love reusing game pieces, and you only need a few supplies- some alcohol inks, a black ink pad, and stamps, plus some paper glaze for a top coat! You can turn your little mini works of art into magnets, pins, pendents, or small components for larger altered art […]
Altered Art- Crafting a New Purpose for Old Stuff
In the past few days I’ve had fun working on some “altered art” items, and I realized that I’ve never done a post on altering! I know there are a few of you out there who may not be very familiar with altered crafting, so I thought I’d do a little primer for you. In my own words, Altered art is talking old stuff that used to have a purpose and turning it into art. Interestingly, Wikipedia does not have […]
Better Late Than Never RAKs
Well, I finally got on an art bender and made up some gifties for my ClothPaperStudio Yahoo Group birthday gals. For June. Ok, better late than never, I guess. And with the scraps I generated, I’m making a series of ATC’s for the July gals, so I might just get caught up. I used puzzle pieces, stamps, stickers, recycled sheet music, shrink plastic pieces (also stamped and hand-colored), some metal keys, hand-watercolored paper… a whole lot goin’ on here. Most […]
May RAKs Finally Sent Out
I am so far behind…. I’m just sending my May RAK’s (Random Acts of Kindness) out to my ClothPaperScissors Yahoo Group ladies. Oh, yeah. It’s JUNE! Yipes. I’ve been so overwhelmed lately that I just put that particular project on the back burner. I actually started them in April, and got a nice head start on altering the bottle caps. (I stamped some scrapbook paper, then attached in into the flattened bottle caps. I added the cute little bubble stickers, […]
Polymer Clay Covered Altoid Tins
Thinking on my next set of classes for Stamplistic. I whipped up these two tins using the Studio By Sculpey texture sheets as prep for writing my review on them. Anyhoo, I use them for holding my UTEE, so took them to the Art Doll class. They got lots of oohs and aaaahs. Makes me think I need to make some more, trying a few new techniques. There’s always something new to explore! The one on the top, here, was […]
Altered Art Bobbins
So, I’m still on my Random Act of Kindness crafting kick. Our dear moderator Diane reminded me that March is rapidly approaching, so I got a-thinkin’. My challenge to myself is to a) create a handmade item b) using what I’ve got in my studio c) can be duplicated a dozen or so times, and d) can be sent in an envelope requiring no extra postage! Really, quite a tall order, if you think about it. Now, I’ve made bookmarks […]
