Start-To-Finish Watercolor Cards

February 19, 2015

Last week I posted showing you how to make watercolor paints using your Perfect Pearls to add shimmer. I was so smitten with the technique, I decided to put the camera on and show you how I made a pair in under five minutes!

Watercolor Birthday cards, start to finish!

OK… it was actually 22 minutes in “real time.” But in this video I give you some tips, tricks, and links to other technique videos so you can do this yourself!

In case you missed it, here are some of those posts/videos that might be helpful to you:

  • Inlaid die-cutting technique
  • Make Watercolors from Perfect Pearls
  • Comparison of Adhesive Tapes

Here are the cards I made using those homemade watercolors from last week. 🙂

These are such fun to make- I’d love to hear from you and see if you tried any of these techniques!

I have to get some word die cuts. I just got my Big Shot, so I can finally use those slim metal dies. They work so well.

Love the watercolor birthday card – my favorite colors. Can you tell me who makes the birthday die cut – I really like the lettering on that die & have not seen it before. It’s definitely a word die I need. Thanks for a great video! be well Robin

LOVE the watercolors & ease of making 2 cards at a time! Beautiful & fun. Thank you for all the great ideas!

Two questions: You said 20 min. start to finish. How long would it take to flatten the paper in a book? And 2nd, what was that tool you used to pick up the little paper pieces? Thanks.

That “Birthday” die is from Papertrey Ink- and it’s sooooo cheap- only $3!! https://www.papertreyink.com/pti-dies/papertrey-ink-wonderful-words-birthday-die/

Mary Lee- I usually let my watercolor paper air-dry since I usually work on 2-3 things at one time. But you could use a heat tool to dry your paper quickly and then place it WHILE IT’S WARM under a big book (or I use my desk blotter) and by the time you die-cut your white paper and cut your cardstock it will be ready to go. 🙂

As for the awl, it’s one of my favorite things- my We R Memory Keepers Brad Setter and Piercing Tool. I should do a quickie video on that, too! http://wp.me/p1VO6a-1vH
