Every now and then, I need a mojo boost. And for me, that sometimes means a new product or kit or tools to spark my creativity. My friend Linda has been a big-time fan of the Catherine Pooler Stamp of Approval card kit, so I decided to give a kit a go!
Just so you know, I paid for this kit with my own funds and I have no connection to the company. Just sharing my thoughts and all opinions are my own!
It’s so much easier to SHOW you, so here is the 8 minute video with the unboxing and my card samples:
So here are my take-aways from the Catherine Pooler Stamp of Approval Card Kit:
- It’s a BIG kit- so much in one box
- It’s also pricey- over $100USD with shipping and handling
- It’s a quarterly kit, and it’s NOT a subscription- you have to sign up each time
- They don’t show you everything in the kit before it’s shipped out. You can see “sneak peeks” before, but part of the box is the element of surprise.
- Not everyone likes that kind of surprise, and you may not like everything you get. There is an element of a gamble.
- There are only dies and stamps- no “consumables” like paper or stamp pads.
So for me, this was probably a one-time purchase. I like to know what I’m getting in advance, and the price tag is a little hefty for me. I’m probably going to stick with my Simon Says Stamp Kits for now. You can see some of those here, if you are interested!
How about you? Do you like kits? Do you like “surprises”- aka, buying product sight unseen? I’d love to hear from YOU!

Hi Jenny, I have all but the 1st kit, Katherine used to only show some of what you get in the kit but the last few kits Katherine has shown all that is included in the kit. I love her kits, and as of August she has opened an online store where you can purchase single stamps or dies from past kits and she has her own stamp sets also. Thanks for reviewing her kits
Jenny – Great review. I agree, I would like to see what I am buying. I could spend $100 in many different ways.
Something is wrong with your videos. There is no bar on the bottom with buttons to pause. Plus the right side is cut off and you cannot close the ads that pop up and then there is no way to turn it off when you are done. This started when you moved!
Thank you for this review. Your cards were awesome. I have all of her kits except #1 and she does show everything that is coming in the kit. For the anniversary of SOA she put a Spectrum Noir glitter pen in the box as an extra surprise gift, but otherwise you know exactly what you are paying for. If you see and kit and you don’t want everything, after the release you can buy individual sets.
That is a bit hefty for me and while I love surprises, but for that much money I want some control.
I get monthly membership kits like Bloom Box from Fun Stampers Journey and Simon Says Stamp kit. I also love the monthly surprises I use fountain pens when writing and iPens monthly box sends me a new one every month, plus I get surprises in my monthly Sci-Fi Nerd Box.
All 4 of those monthly memberships come under $100 and I get a lot of different thing that, so far, I have been happy with.
I “might” consider paying $100 for a kit if either of my favorite designers, Karen Burniston or the StampTramp, Shelly Hickox put out a kit!
Hi Jenny! As usual, you do a fantastic job of showing us the different products in the crafting world. I have subscribed to her Blog for a long time and was wondering how the products actually were in those boxes. Thank you for sharing your adventure with it! Seems a bit pricey though.
See you on Periscope!
