Paper trimmers are an essential in the paper crafter’s toolbox. And if you make card cards, envelopes, or boxes, a score board is pretty darn helpful, too. Leave it to We R Memory Keepers to come up with a combination tool so that you can cut and score with one tool that doesn’t clutter up your table!
Here’s how it’s described on the website:
Trim and score projects with the convenience of one tool. Cut precisely using titanium blades on the easy-to-use 12×12” fold out surface, or create score lines for any crafting project. With measurements in both inches and centimeters, it’s perfect for creating boxes, cards, and envelopes. The Trim & Score Board and Trim & Score Refill Blades begin shipping this October.
I’ve made you this video so I can show you all of the features:

You can see the blade, while sharp, is not very deep. This tool is suitable for paper and light cardboard only.

Flip the guide over to get accurate scoring measurements.

The screened-on measurement markings are easy to read.
So just to summarize:
Pros:
- Convenient to have both tools in one!!
- Great price point
- Onboard storage so you won’t lose your folder
- Can be used in the folded position for an even smaller footprint
- Nice clear markings for inches
- Nice deep grooves for scoring
- Easy to replace blades
Cons:
- No printing markings for metrics
- Mild “fishtailing” at the end of a cut
- No onboard storage for extra blades
- Track can be less than smooth
- No additional corner tool to make envelopes (to be fair, they make a separate tool for this)
So for me, the Trim & Score is a keeper! I use my big paper cutter to rip down bigger sheets, but the Trim & Score is perfect for smaller cuts. I also love having the scoring surface so handy- and like I mentioned in the video, since I’m primarily a card-maker now, the measurements are perfect in the folded-up position. (By the way, I placed a non-skid mat under it and it stabilized it perfectly.)
I purchased this item on HSN during craft day, and it’s already available on Amazon.com for about $20! That’s a great value….and it means I can sell off my extra scoring board! What do you think? Is this a tool you would use? We’d love to hear from you!

This is a great idea! I have both a paper trimmer and a score board, but seriously considering ditching them for this. Thanks for the thorough review of this product.
All I can say is that I have used it for 4 month now and I am in love with it, I never thought I would use it as much as I do, and I cut acetate too!
Thank you for the great review. I had a Fiskars cutter, that looks and acts a lot like that one. The Titanium blades were expensive and in only a few weeks, it would not give a clean cut. Also, like you, the paper would slide and not give a straight line. The score portion looked like it worked well, but what can go wrong with them! But I have learned, a tool with one purpose is usually better than the “swiss army knife” version. I have a large guillotine type cutter and after 5 years, it still gives a very smooth cut. I recently bought the Tonic 5 x 8 guillotine style for the smaller cuts. Love them both.
Have you found a way to make the track work smoother? It is really hard to get the blade to glide smoothly when cutting.
I just purchased this item from HSN and can’t wait to get it. I currently own a cutting tool and score guide but I bought this way mainly because I don’t always get my paper straight when cutting larger sizes and thought this would solve that problem. I own many We r Memory tools and love them so I hope this will be the same!
Love this tool, got it to take to crops etc.
It is really functional and like the fact that the imperial measures are on the top and at the bottom are the metric measures. So I can cut or score in metric or imperial even though the metric markings are not easy to read.
I have temporarily “painted” the metric markings with white paint to make them more visible – not that I use them very much.
Cheers
Trina
I bought this from HSN, also, and planned to use it when traveling and taking classes, etc. I thought it would be a great travel board because of it’s small footprint. I normally don’t like anything anymore that doesn’t have a rotary cutting head because of accuracy problems, but it’s always nice to have something for the lightweight jobs. Thanks for your usual thorough and thoughtful review!
I used a Fiskars paper trimmer for years and years and finally got tired of paying a small fortune over time for the replacement blades. I switched to 2 different sizes of the Tonic trimmer and have never looked back. Now I’m not throwing those used blades away and cluttering up the landfills. Now, if someone combined the guillotine and scoring together, I might be interested. As always, thanks for the review as it’s always nice to see what else is out there.
I know this review and product has been out for a while, but I thought I’d post about my not so great experience with this tool. My first one had issues with the track not being smooth, and the spring on the back that keeps the board open when unfolded broke–contacted WeR to see if they would take care of the broken spring–The cutter was about 6 months old, but I didn’t use it much because I hated having to unfold the dumb thing and the track wasn’t smooth enough. I bought a new one only because I don’t want to haul two tools when I can take one somewhere. Went to use the new one, and the track is completely warped–it won’t cut straight no matter what I do. The others issues are still present with the new one. I won’t be buying another one–I just wanted one tool that would cut straight and not be a pain to use. After two tries, I concluded that I had wasted my money, and the lack of response by WeR just confirmed it.
