Review of the Simon Says Stamp Card Kit of the Month

June 30, 2014

Sometimes you just need a little creative kick in the pants, and I’ve found that a kit can do just that. I have ordered some Simon Says Stamp  (affiliate link) products recently, and decided to take the plunge and try out the Card Kit of the Month. Since July is my first one, I thought I’d share the contents- and my results- with you!

Here’s a peek of what was inside the box!

Simon Says Stamp Card Kit July 2014

First,  a video:

And here’s some detail photos of the cards I made.

The kit costs $24.95 for a one-time deal, or $19.95 if you sign up for the monthly subscription- which is what I did. ) I think it’s a great deal for the money, and it’s a jump-start of creativity delivered right to my door. And since there are scant few scrapbooking stores (and only a few general craft stores that have anything but basic supplies,) I feel like I’m getting a little present of new and trendy product. YAY!

Just a reminder, this was NOT a sponsored review- I purchased the subscription on my own because I think it’s worth it! But if you are interested, please use this affiliate link and check them out!

Do you belong to a kit club? I’d love to hear which ones- and maybe try a few new ones myself!

Great cards! I love the red, white, and blue. I don’t do
many cards with those colors either. I subscribe to the
StudioCalico card kit and I really like it. You should check
it out. Thanks for the great review!

Loved the presentation. Were there suggested layouts included? I need a little more inspiration myself. I’m going to investigate the card club.

You did a great job with the cards. I have subscribed for a year now and sadly have asked not to have the last four months sent to me after the reveal of the contents. The 6×6 papers are the hard part of the kit. If you look at most of the inspiration by designers, they are not using very much of them. Sometimes the stamp sets are hard to use since they are very specific. There is always some form of stickers, letters or embellishments which again, you seldom see in any of the inspiration items. Simon Says has wonderful unique products and it would be nice to see a die in the kit every now and then. Don’t forget, $6.99 shipping is added to the price of your kit.

Pat- There was a full-color sheet included that had sample card ideas for inspiration- but they don’t include step-out instructions for them. -J

I also belong to Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. I’ve belonged for about 8 months now and have never been disappointed.

Loved the cards. I may have to subscribe for a niece who is new to card-making. Wouldn’t that be a nice gift?

Loved seeing what is included in a Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. I’ve often thought about buying a kit (for inspiration) but wasn’t sure what kinds of items were included and whether some examples or inspiration were included in the kits. I LOVE the cards you made using this kit, but wonder if the price is a bit too high for the items included (since a shipping charge is added). I’ll have to think about this—would love to see what is included in NEXT month’s kit.

No kit club membership here, although I do love the idea of kits. My sister loves them and I usually get all of her castoffs though. I have always been curious what a complete kit looks like so I appreciated this review. Loved you OWH cards too, I really need to get going on mine for this year.

I just subscribed to Pigment&Palette which is a monthly supscription box, it is $15 and each month you receive 4-5 different art supplies – I have only received one box so far but was super happy -it comes in a great reusable magnetic closure black box, and I got a full sized Krink paint marker, a postcard canvas so I can send an art piece to soemone, a watercolor pencil(cant remember brand – it was a good one though, and a waterbrush. You also receive a postcard sized art print every month of a featured artist. Its fairly new but there are a few youtube reviews out of it. Comparable to Art Snacks, but maybe a little cheaper and a nice resuable box.

I LOVE my monthly subscription to SSS!!! The stamps are fabulous and I love Kristina Werner’s handwriting! They are a great company that stands behind their product!

Love the cards you made they are fabulous!

    ~God bless~

I just joined the SSS card kit club, and the July kit will be my second. I love how everything is coordinated and the stamp sets are kind of unique. Also fun to be able to post your cards to the SSS gallery. I love that you used OWH sketches for these cards–perfect match!
You should also look at all the monthly kits from Paper Wishes:
    http://www.paperwishes.com/personal-shopper/monthly-scrapbooking-cardmaking-kits.html?WT.hotp_ct=home-ps-box
They include a card kit, scrapbook kit, stencils, papier tole, templates, embossing folders, Dazzles (their signature stickers), and cutting dies. Some of the kits include paper but some are just tools.
I tried out the Stamps of Life (Stephanie Barnard) which has stamp sets and matching dies. Stephanie also has a complete line of crafting products and is affiliated with Sizzix, so you know the products are great.

Thank you for sharing! I went and signed up for the subscription and I hope to share what I make with OWH too! Cannot wait!

I have been getting the SSS kits for about a year. I love the value. I always feel that I got my money’s worth.Love your site and videos.

So you think this is a good value?

  15. Jenny says

Personally I do. I get the preview of these kits and get to decide whether or not to confirm the PayPal purchase (why it was $20, too)- so I wouldn’t buy it if I thought it wasn’t worth it. I love the stamp set, full-size stamp pad AND the die! Whoo-hoo!
