I’m big fan of memory-keeping in the moment- that is, taking a travel journal, Smash-book, or other blank book to take with you on vacations so that you can record what’s happening daily, instead of taking 80-gajillion photos and then never putting them in a scrapbook. Of course a key part of this idea is either taking photos as you go with an instant camera and/0r saving places for your photos to go. So I’ve done a little research, and last year I purchased a Fuji Instax 7S Instant Camera to take with us and I’m loving it so far.
So, here are some details about the Fuji Instax 7S camera:

Cool, right? Well, here’s my video overview:
I’ve since I made this video last fall, I’ve continued to use and enjoy this camera! Note the photo taped into my Smash Book:
This is also fun for parties- everyone can take a photo home with them. I mean, you just can’t beat immediate gratification!
Of course, the photos aren’t stellar- but I’m OK with that. They aren’t meant to be high art. Now the price point is a little steep- you’ll pay between $65-80 USD for the camera, and the packs of film come out to about $1 per photo. But for the cost of having the photo IN MY HAND, I’ll gladly pay it.
I’d love to hear fro any of you who use modern instant cameras. Which model do you use and why?
Disclosure: I purchased this camera with my own funds, no connection to manufacturer.

Thanks for this review! I have been looking for something to take on vacation to Disney so the kids (wink wink…really ME) can make something in the evening. I find there is a great lack of CRAFTING on our Disney vacations and I get a little twitchy without gluing or cutting for that long! LOL! This is a great option. THANKS!!! (Although I don’t know if I want to carry 4 cameras…everyone apparently needs their own)

Oh, how I miss my Polaroid – this is so much better! Thanks for the review – gonna show it to hubby – the family photographer!
Hugs!

I just this moment bought this camera, actually the Instax Mini 25. I am so looking forward to using it in my journaling, and I was happy to hear that you are enjoying it so much.

I just got this camera and I am really enjoying it. The film prices are pretty scary on a budget, but I saw some of it cheaper on EBAY. I also like this camera because unlike any other Polaroids, I was able to get the film t my local Walmart. I wish somebody had told me about the distance thing, but I eventually figured it out. If you do take a close up, it comes out with this hazy 60’s vibe, which I think is really cool, but not great for documenting (like what you were doing). I never thought to make a journal with pictures, but now I feel like I must start. Thanks for the idea!

anyone knows how this compares to the Instax 8 or the 210 Wide or the Mini 25?
Jenny says
The Instax 8 is a newer model (this review is quite old) and the Wide is for…wider shots! The Mini 25 seems to be for closer-up photos.
