Photos. Journaling. Custom labels. Printables. These are all things for which a crafter might need a printer. And I don’t really give much time to my printer, unless it’s out of ink or starts to malfunction. (Which mine just did!) So the Epson XP 820 Small in One Printer was right on time!
I made a video for you, but first I want to you know a bit about it:
The Expression Premium XP-820 Small-in-One delivers unbeatable photo quality2 for vivid, smudge resistant photos3 up to 8″ x 10″, plus high-quality CD/DVDs. Do more with the 30-page Automatic Document Feeder and auto 2-sided printing, copying, scanning and faxing. Plus, it prints 4″ x 6″ photos in as fast as 12 seconds4. A dedicated photo tray and specialty paper support offer easy printing for photos, envelopes and more. This ultra slim all-in-one features the ultimate connectivity. Print from smartphones and tablets5, or scan photos to Facebook® or the cloud6. Breeze through any task with the 4.3″ touchscreen, featuring gesture navigation.
Now, I tested the Epson XP-820 out the way I figured a “normal” crafter would- but what is that, anyway? So if you have questions or specific queries about what it will or won’t print on, just ask!
Now let’s look at those samples again.
So just to review, the photo with the water mark? I’d call that “water-resistant” but not necessarily “water-proof.” But then, what photo is?
This printer runs about $200 USD, but you can get it for less if you shop around. And I love that I can print wirelessly from my computer or tablet or phone (just be mindful of those paper settings!)
I am really looking forward to printing some more photos of my recent trip to Italy- I’m thinking of using watercolor paper and then framing it!
Do you have a printer that you love and rely on?

Really good, Epson is my favourite for printers and your one looks fantastic, I never tried printing on vellum, I have to give it a try, looks great!
Can you try it on a CD? I’m also curious about the physical size/measurements. It really doesn’t look very small, for being called a Small In One. Thanks.

Does the scanner portion print directly or do you have to save the scan and print from a computer? Enjoyed your review. I love Epson products. The quality of their photo ink is impressive.
Will it print on lunch size paper bags? How about napkins. Have been looking for a printer that will print on unusual papers,
maybe this is it???
I have this printer. I like how it will print double sided. It over saturates the paper in my opinion, but it does a nice job. Using the wifi to print was so slow from my new laptop that I had to hook it up to the computer. That was disappointing. It does let you print directly from your iPad or iPhone which is great. I was surprised that mine came with full ink cartridges.
Lori- I’m not even going to try to print on napkins- there is no way that it would feed up and around without catching or fraying, and the same with paper bags.
It has a straight thru feed in the back for heavy paper. Paper bags lights work through that. No idea about napkins
If you read the reviews on the Epson website you might change your mind about this printer. I am currently on my fourth (yes, fourth) replacement Epson Premium XP-810, which is the precursor to the 820. I’ve had so much trouble with it refusing to print that I thought I might get the 820, hoping that this model fixed the problems with the 810. The I read the reviews on the Epson website. And there are many complaints about the 820 having the exact same problems I’m having with the 810. I wish you luck with your 820. When it prints it prints beautifully. When it decides to quit printing black, they you just have to settle for a replacement.
