My Favorite Crafty Things: Creative Options Project Boxes!

September 8, 2015

It’s been a while since I did a “My Favorite Things” post…and this one is long overdue. I’m in love with BOXES.

Creative Options Project Boxes; an easy way to organize your craft stuff!

As you can imagine, I have a TON of crafty stuff. And it’s almost a full-time job trying to keep it all organized!

You know what happens when you don’t?

It takes you forever to FIND what you want to craft with, and by the time you DO, you are out of time. (And patience!)

So I’ve been working with an organizer (Joe Barto, the founder of FarBeyondOrganized.com) and earlier this summer he helped me do a purge and get organized.   One of the big projects was my craft closet. We had to weed out a bunch of stuff I don’t use much and THEN decide how to organize what was left. He helped me see that I needed some additional shelving (and even went and got the boards custom-cut for me!)

Then it was up to me to sort and label all of my materials. For these, I organized by product category. And I used these Creative Options Project Boxes (affiliate link) and my Epson Labeler to get my craft supplies under control!!!

And I fell in love with the boxes, for reals.

I love that they stack so well, are SUPER sturdy, and allow me to SEE and pull out my materials for crafting. It’s saving me a TON of time!!! Everything is RIGHT THERE, at a glance.

I made a little video to show you more about them!

Sadly, they are no longer available on Costco.com- they must have recently sold out!!!

But you can still find a set of 5 for under $50 with free shipping. (Affiliate link.)

Anyway, I love my “new” closet and my organized area.

And a big thanks to Joe (visit FarBeyondOrganized on Facebook, too) for helping me out!

Great boxes and love the colours. I smiled when I saw the Union Jack flag when you opened the box 🙂

Keep looking at Costco. I think they buy so many sets, sell out and reorder. It might be one of their seasonal items, although organizing has no season! I have bought 3 sets of them and labeling is a must. They are also great for finished pages waiting to go in albums!

I love these boxes for carrying a project &/or supplies to a friend’s house, as project box to keep everything together for whatever in progress project I am working on, or to store related supplies together such as all the supplies for a design group. I got tired of the Iris boxes not closing properly if that inside rim got bent or warped in any way. These are my new go-to crafting case.

OMG! I just did my entire studio over with the Better Homes and Gardens cube organizers (exclusively at Walmart) and have been using fed ex boxes decorated with duck tape. The cubes are 15″x15″ x 15″ and the boxses are not space efficient. I could stack 4 in some cubes for neat storage of things! And better use of space! BTW, am thrilled with quality and price of the cube storage.

I love the organization tasking. You feel so good when it’s done. But to have what works for me would need a bigger room and I don’t have that luxury in our house. I had one of those short shelf organizers for paper, and I loved it. It was so easy to find the paper I wanted, but it took up so much room that I got rid of it. The problem with the trays with lids was what I wanted was always on the bottom. My favs now are the plastic drawers like Sterilite. They’re 12 x 12, so they hold paper and deep enough to hold stamps. And the deeper ones hold inks and paints and tools. Not perfect, but it works for me.

I use the boxes to keep items together by person that I want to save/scrap. I have one for each of my children, one for my husband and me, and then some for work in progress for each of us. Love them!
