Creative Medium isn’t a new product- we reviewed it here over a year ago. However, mixed media is still on the upswing, and, as I reported in my CHA trends post, using black as a substrait/background is SUPER hot right now. Imagine Crafts is spot-on with this trend with it’s line of Iridescent Creative Mediums.
From the website:

Creative Medium can be stamped with pigment or solvent inks once dried. Creative Medium readily accepts glitter, inks and other additives when still wet. Use on canvas, metal, wood, plastic, glass, cardstock, tile, acetate and shrink plastic. Easy clean-up. Water-based; archival and acid free. Conforms to ASTM D-4236
Creative Medium is a stiff texture gel that will hold peaks. It has no discernible odor, and looks pearly white in the container.
It’s pretty unimpressive on white or light-colored papers. But on this black gesso’d surface, you can really see the CMs come alive!
Of course, I made a little video for you:
As of this post, Creative Medium is not widely available. Please check the Imagine Crafts’ website or social sites for more inquiries.
I love Creative Medium for use with my stencils- it’s stunning. I’m going to leave you with the photo that drew me in at CHA:
I think these samples are stunning.

These paints are certainly very different to any I have seen before, they are not even paints, more like texturizers or something, but the interesting effect they give with stencils is amazing. I wonder if by mixing thick ModPodge with some iridescent eyeshadows I have (beautiful ones from Coastal Scents) I would get similar results.

It’s important to note that they ARE NOT PAINTS. Rather, they are gel/acrylic mediums that artists traditionally use. (I have a video about those here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deIhtlK25HA) You could tint your own heavy-body acrylic medium (get the gel that dries clear) and achieve similar results if this product is not in your area.

I love this look. It looks like mica powder embedded in the gel medium. I hope you do the Pebeo review soon. I got a couple of bottles a while back and they are looking at me. I believe they are oil based, so I’m not sure how to approach their use. I just fell in love with the colors when I saw them on sale. We crafters are like that. Thank you for another very fine review of this product, Jenny. What would we do without you? Have a crafty day!

Beautiful! They are going on my Wish List today. Do you know how the texture compares to Golden Fiber Paste?

I would try them in a heart beat. I have used gel medium before with metallic acrylic heavy body paint and get a nice effect, but there’s not a lot of texture to that. And flat iridescent isn’t all it could be. I need to get my hands on these.

What is the country of origin on this product? Is it USA or China or somewhere else. Thanks.
Jenny says
It’s not really comparable to Fiber Paste- the texture isn’t as chunky (no fibers, of course) and it’s a clear gel that is translucent when dry. It’s essentially texture gel with iridescent powder mixed in. Hope this helps!

Hi Jan,
The country of origin is USA. Redmond, WA to be exact.
