I love a good punch! But I’ve ruined a few punching things like metal and shrink plastic. Fiskars must have been nanny-camming my studio, since now they have a thick materials punch that is tough with thick materials but pretty easy on the hands.

Here’s how they are described on the Fiskars Website:
Now you can create with thick and tough materials like aluminum cans, cardboard, balsa wood, milk jugs, foam and more thanks to our exclusive new punch design.
Whether you’re passionate about creating home décor, upcycling projects, unique cards, scrapbooks or out-of-the-box crafts from unexpected elements, our Thick Materials Shape Punch will help you push your creative boundaries further than ever before. It also offers a lightweight, portable design that is easy to take along to crops, unlike heavy die-cutting machines. All Thick Materials Shape Punches include a built-in lock for space-saving storage and a Softgrip® punch button for comfortable use.

Of course, I made you a video. Really, that’s just the best format for craft product reviews!
And here’s a still of those shapes I got:

Great results on everything! I was too chicken to try the shrink plastic.
Some things to keep in mind:
- The opening is only 1/8 inch thick, so it won’t punch things thicker than that.
- Not suitable for material.
- Big surface for pressing down
- Smooth punching motion
- Punch shape is a little small for the size of the punch. These are not huge punches.
- Fiskars products have a lifetime warranty!
- Pricing: MSRP $17.99-$25.99 USD
These are still rolling out, so I don’t know who is carrying them.
Would you use big punches?

thanks for anther helpful and interesting review! I have found that when I jam up a punch I can get it to release by firmly and evenly smacking the bottom of it on my work surface. I always fear I will break the punch but I can’t use it jammed so I have found this works. My experience has been that it works better and is safer than sticking something sharp in it trying to pry it loose. Good luck and thanks again!
These look awesome for those of us who haven’t bought a die cut machine. I’m not the only gal in America without one am I???? Great video. Thank you
You are not alone I do not have a die cutting machine ?
I have a die cutting machine but sometime you want a quick shape without having to set up the thing. If I had a craft room and had it left out all of the time that would change the game. But in the meantime my punch collection is growing. Thanks for the review. I didn’t know these punches are for thicker materials.
I wondered for the longest time if these thick punches can punch through coasters. I bought the 1.5″ tag punch a few weeks ago and hesitated to open it in case it failed to punch coasters, and then I wouldn’t be able to return it to the store. I searched online to see if anyone else has tried, but didn’t find anything. Today, I finally decided to go for it and opened the punch. It does punch through coasters! The underside of the punchies come out a bit ragged, but not too badly. I only wonder how sturdy the punch is and how long it will last.
I just bought a Tag Lever Punch (XXL, 2.5″) by Fiskars and I cannot find any way to unlock this tag punch so I can use it. Any ideas. It does not have an eyelet punch nor a hole maker. I have sent an email to Fiskars a few minutes ago. I will keep looking on YouTube. Thank you.
