Now…if you’re here for the soap, have I got a treat for you! I had visited my CFF (Crafty Friend Forever) Vicki O’Dell’s The Creative Goddess Blog and saw her idea to put fun Halloween goodies in clear soap bars. After all, my daughter’s best friend is highly allergic to many foods and she just can’t have candy (or even Playdough) for Halloween treats. However, glycerin soap is on the “approved” list, so this is what little girl and I came up with:

Start with glycerin soap base- add a few drops of fragrance if tolerated.

While your soap is heating in the microwave, get your “assistant” to place the goodies, upside DOWN, in the soap molds.

Do a “half-pour”- just pour the melted soap to fill the molds 1/3 to 1/2 the way full. It will anchor the plastic treats down. Otherwise they may float and poke up the back of the soap. When that pour is cool, add a second layer to cover completely. We had some blue goat’s milk soap left over from another project and we used that for some cool, two-tone soaps!

We also tinted some of the base red to make it more ghoulish….aren’t the eyeballs fantastic?? Those are bouncy balls.

I just LOVE this as a fun little giftie for the adults who are watching their weight or kids with restricted diets. Why should candy be the only treat given for Halloween? So, there’s your fun weekend activity, folks!
