That is a bunch of jobs for one pair of scissors don’t you think? I broke my pair free from the packaging and started running them through the wringer. The package includes the scissors and a sheath for storage/sharpening.
I started by running through the list of material and features. First up was rope. There is a curved portion of the blade that is intended to cut rope easily.
Really a perfect cut with very little effort. I was very impressed. Yes as a home decor blogger with a farmhouse spin cutting rope can be an intricate part of my blog. These scissors had my attention.
Next up is wire. See that notch that the wire is sticking out of? That is where the package said to cut wire.
It snapped this fairly thick floral wire right in two with minimal effort.
Next up is twine. There is a small recessed cutting edge on the side of the scissors for twine.
A little frayed on the ends but all in all it was a convenient way to cut twine. I also used that area on baker’s twine and it worked like a charm.
Now let’s look at that sheath a minute. On the underside there is a small tip that you can run along tape that is holding boxes closed. On the top there is actually an area to sharpen your scissors.
I am loving that I can sharpen the scissors easily.
Now lets actually use them as scissors. First I made some pom poms and used these scissors to trim them up. Yes I actually trimmed them to look like Easter eggs. The tutorial can be found on my blog for these great eggs. The scissors worked great on the yarn with no issues.
Next I grabbed some fabric. I actually used them to cut some circles from this green bandana. Again no issues with the scissors.
What did I use those circles for? I actually made a kanzashi flower pin for St. Patrick’s Day. You can find Vicki’s great review on the flower maker here.
Next up was felt. I grabbed a few sheets of felt and my Fiskars Cuts+More Multipurpose Scissors.
First I did some straight cuts on the felt with no issues.
So I folded up the felt and made some curved cuts. That thick folded felt was extra tough to cut and I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well the scissors performed.
What do you do with felt that you have cut almost like a snowflake? Why wrap a present of course!
As a bonus project, I also cut some burlap and fabric to make a rustic bunny garland. I did something similar last year and loved it so much I had to repeat it.
After all that crafting, I was ready to try out the only feature left on these scissors…the bottle opener! Won’t you join me?
Now I am writing up this review and realize I really don’t have any negatives to say about these. I really enjoyed these Cuts+More Scissors from Fiskars. They truly are multipurpose and can help with a variety of jobs around your home. Testing on rope, twine, wire, yarn, fabric, felt, and even burlap were very successful. I highly recommend these scissors for your craft needs.
