You all know me by now – I can put together a great-looking scrapbook page when I need to…but it’s really not my true love. Â However, that said…I do LOVE (and love might be a slight understatement here) cute, or gorgeous, or fun, or new – whatever catches my eye – paper lines…with all their coordinating accessories. Â I mean, seriously…I drool over paper lines. Â But it’s not just the paper…it’s the rub-ons, and the stickers, and the journaling notes, and the chipboard, and…well, you get the point…all the wonderful coordinating things that go along with the paper that pull it all together.
And I do so have a thing for birds and bird-cages, so the minute I saw this Winter CHA release from Fancy Pants – It’s the Little Things – I just KNEW I wanted it in my little hands!! Â How lucky was I when a beautiful box showed up from Jared over at Fancy Pants with some awesome products to review?! Â You won’t see any scrapbook pages here today…but I hope you’ll love what I did with these fun products from Fancy Pants!!
The It’s the Little Things line has a paper kit which includes 12 double sided 12×12 papers, 1 6×12 sheet of alphabet stickers, 1 6×12 sheet of element stickers, 1 12×12 flocked transparency, 1 12×12 printed transparency, 1 8×8 sheet of colored rub-ons, and 1 8×8 sheet of glittered cut-outs. Â In addition to the paper kit, I also received the It’s the Little Things ribbon/trim (3 yards total), buttons, chipboard alphas, chipboard banners, and journal embellishments. Â Finally, I also received a package of the Artist Edition Half Circle chipboard banners and a couple packages of the Artist Edition Filter Flowers.
First, I’ve  had this stamp album kit from Bind-it All sitting in my studio for a while, just waiting to be decorated and put together.  I decided these papers and accessories would be perfect, and you can see that they turned out just adorable on the cover of the album.  I used some of 2 of the 12×12 pieces, a bit of the borders page, a couple of the journaling embellishments, the chipboard alphas (which are self-adhesive), and a rub-on (the bird cage).  I also did some doodling with my pen, and inked the edges with a chalk ink pad. I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out – and now when I want to look for my acrylic or cling-mount rubber stamps, it’s pure fun to pick up this album to look for them!
Next, I have been taking an online workshop from mixed media artist Christy Tomlinson, called “The She-Art Workshop,” (which I CANNOT recommend highly enough, by the way!!). Â I decided to incorporate a bunch of these Fancy Pants products into one of the canvases I made during the workshop.
I used three of the circle Filter Flowers, sprayed them with a homemade Perfect Pearl mist, cut them into strips, and used them to make the skirt on the girl on my canvas. Â I was amazed at how well the Filter Flowers took the mist, and how well they held up to the entire process…no way could I get regular tissue paper to do that!!
I had cut some corrugated cardboard with a Sizzix die, and I topped them with accent pieces from the Fancy Pants Chipboard Banners sheet. Â You can see a few of the Fancy Pants rub-ons here as well…they went on just fine even over the multiple layers of paper and texture. Â I was very pleased with them!
I loved the Glitter Cut-outs!! Â They are clear, like thick transparency, other than the actual glittered part. Â You adhere them with clear glue (I used Mod Podge). Â I love that the glitter still shows even with Mod Podge over the top, too.
You can see here that I used It’s the Little Things papers for the girl’s shirt and sweater, and I love the rub-on birds next to her. Â There is also another glitter cut-out (love).
Finally, the entire canvas (click to enlarge)…
For my final project, I wanted to use the Artist Edition half-circle banners. Â Initially, I considered making an actual banner. Â But I wanted to show that they could be used for things other than what they are intended. Â Then I considered making a mini-album (because if you turn them sideways, and put book rings or ribbon through the holes, they would make PERFECT mini album pages!). Â But THEN, I had an awesome idea…and I had to go with it!
The funny part is, I started this last project…I had two of the banner pieces covered in chalkboard paint, and was starting to put them together…when I happened to discover TOTALLY by accident that the BACK side of the banner pieces have a removable film, revealing an adhesive side!! Â Which led to the project becoming a two-in-one project!
So, here you have it…I took two banner pieces, front sides painted with black chalkboard paint (by Plaid), and tied them together with the ribbon. Â I decorated them with rub-ons, chipboard banner pieces, chipboard alphas, and buttons.
Then, the surprise second side!! Â I put together some of the papers, journal embellishments and stickers. Â Then I ran them through my Xyron 900 with the laminating cartridge. Â I trimmed the pieces to the size of the banners, then adhered them to the banner pieces (since they were self-adhesive). Â Now I have a dry-erase side and a chalkboard side to my little banner hanging!!
I truly had so much fun playing with these products, and I look forward to seeing more releases from Fancy Pants. Â Their Artist Edition products are a brand new thing for them, and they hold a lot of promise. Â They have an Artist Edition Spiral Notebook with totally awesome looking papers in it that I would love to get my hands on! Â And you should definitely check out the gorgeous garland someone made with the Filter Flowers – it’s on the Artist Edition product page right above the Filter Flowers. Â Check out the Fancy Pants blog, their Facebook page, and they also have an amazing Idea Gallery on their website, full of incredible projects!!
Should we talk prices? Â Okay. Â The 12×12 paper kit retails for $24.99. Â If you were to get them outside of the kit, the rub-ons and the glitter cut-outs are $4.99 each, and the cardstock stickers and alpha stickers are each $1.99. Â The buttons, chipboard alphas and chipboard banners are also $4.99 each (and are not included in the kit). Â The journal embellishments are $3.99, and the ribbons $3.49. Â The Filter Flowers come 9 to a package and are $3.99 each, and the Chipboard Banners (Artist Edition) come 10 to a package, for $9.99 each. Â Just a note – there are 4 styles of both the Filter Flowers and Chipboard Banners.
This was my first chance to play with products from Fancy Pants Designs, and I must say, I was impressed! Â The quality was great, the products were fun and unique…I will definitely be playing more with my leftovers!!

What a cute idea! Great project, I could see this being something my girls would have loved when they were younger (now they are too cool for these things – lol)… Hugs, antonella 🙂
