Markers were all the rage at CHA- water-based, alcohol-based, and so many different accessories to go with them. Copic came out with a new line, too- Copic Doodle Packs.
There are 8 different color ways in the 4-pack option. (It looks as though there are 7-pack options, too- but we weren’t asked to review those. Here is a sampling of the color packs I received.
Don’t they just look like fun?
Here’s how they are described on the website:
Three-piece Doodle Packs are an easy, affordable introduction to Copic products. Eight themed sets include a range of color-matched products that make for a great doodling experience. Packs include two markers, a color Multiliner, and a glitter pen. Features:
• Color-coordinated products
• Themed assortments
• Affordable
So let’s dig in! First, we’ll look at the Ciao markers that are included in the Copic Doodle Packs. They have both a brush tip on one end and a chisel on the other.
You can’t quite see it in the photo, but there is an icon on each end telling you which nib style it is. That’s handy! (I actually prefer different caps, but you can’t have it all.) You also get one lighter hue and a darker one in each color family, so you can begin to shade instantly.
Like all Copics, these inks are translucent and alcohol-based. This means you can layer and layer the color to get maximum saturation on the paper, but it won’t cause the paper to pill or warp. No water! You can also use them on other non-porous surfaces such as glass, plastic and metal because the alcohol evaporates instantly. Cool stuff!
You also get 2 water-based fine-line markers in the set- one is a Multiliner (.3) and it’s coordinated to the set. I had originally thought that they all would be black, no matter what colorway I got. WRONG! You get a Multiliner in a cool color! You also get the Spica marker which has a larger nib. It lays down a vibrant color that also has a trail of sparkle. It’s a great accent!
Here’s a swat on semi-glossy white paper. I kept the colorways stacked vertically. You can see that the Red colorway has a pewter multiliner, but it’s grey for the Turquoise set. I had 6 sets to play with. I only wish there was an orange! (Not shown is a Pink set and Blue.)
Now would be a good time to encourage you to watch the video I made for you:
And, as promised, here are the still photos:
The fox was colored with just the two brown markers, and the butterfly with just the two yellows. Even if you don’t have any other colors or blending pens, you can still get a nice colored image!
Here I layered some Reds and Yellows- combining the two sets. And you can see I added a bit of the sparkle Spica, too.
Don’t you just love the velvety color of a Copic?
And lastly here is my crazy Zentangle. I only used the Copic Doodle Packs and I am very satisfied with the results I got.
I personally love those green leaves!
So as I stated in the video- these are a GREAT way to build you stash of Copics! And at under $15 per set, it’s a good value and doesn’t hurt too much to buy one here or there. And while Copics are refillable, it’s been my experience that you probably won’t ever have too- I’ve never had one of mine dry out and they have a lot of ink in them.
I’m happy to keep doodling with my Copic Doodle Packs- now I just have to use my own affiliate links (below) and pick up the sets I’m missing!
How about you? Would you try them?

Like the review! I am always on the fence about the copics (expensive), but I like the idea of these! I love the blue pack and thepurpuly pack! Well, the green too.
Once again, thanks for your reviews! I usually spot them first on fb, but it goes much faster for me to pop over to YouTube and watch it there. For some reason I can’t comment on YouTube even tho I have an account. Just think “tech challenged.” But, I’m out there in cyber land enjoying your videos and reviews :-). Oh, btw, love the zentangle!!

I use another brand of alcohol markers, but seem to have trouble with hair. Would the brown set give good options for hair color? Thanks for your reviews. I find them spot on.
