When is glitter not just glitter? When it’s a glitter PASTE that stays chunky and three-dimensional when dry. If you’ve ever used an artist’s modelling paste, envision it mixed with gorgeous iridescent glitter and you have the Sparkle Texture Effect product from Martha Stewart Crafts by Plaid Enterprises.
Here’s how it’s described on the website:
Add sparkling, decorative dimension and texture to crafts, school projects, and home accents. Apply a thick layer with palette knife or brush. Can be tinted before or painted after applying. Waterbased.
When you open the container, it looks like a milky, sparkly slushy. It’s very thick, the consistency of spackling paste.
Therefore, you really cannot apply it with a paint brush. You need a palette knife, offset spatula, or even an old gift card to spread it around.
There are really two methods of applying it: freehand, spreading it like icing- or through a stencil.
As you can see, it really keeps it’s shape- you get lots of fluffy texture- great for winter holiday crafts!
Here’s a little video I made with some extra helpful information for you:
Stay tuned, I have a tutorial coming up for you tomorrow using this fun “sparkle spackle!”
