I love using flowers in my crafting. Â I mean, I ADORE using flowers. Â I may have a slight addiction to flowers. Â I used to hoard them…I’d buy them, and never use them. Â They were so beautiful, I just couldn’t bring myself to use them up, because then they’d be…gone.
I’ve finally gotten to a place where I can now actually use my flowers…and I was thrilled to try out the flowery goodness from Petaloo!! Â I was even MORE excited when I started looking at the backs of the packages and realized how many of Petaloo’s flowers are actually made from recycled materials! Â How cool is that?!
I was able to sample a few different lines from Petaloo. Â I was amazed at just how many lines they have; they really have an incredible variety to choose from – check out their website link above to see the full array. Â They have a Project Gallery and a Blog too, with lots of samples and inspiration as well.
First, I wanted to try out the Darjeeling Collection. Â These are the flowers pictured above, are made from 100% recycled cotton, and were designed to coordinate with some of the more vintage-y lines of paper on the market. Â The price point on these packs of flowers is $4.99/bag, for 4-5 flowers per bag.
I created a tag using Distress Inks, gel medium, book text, and stamps. Â The flower colors were perfect for coordinating with the distress inks, and had just the right vintage feel and texture I would want for creating this type of paper craft. Â You can see the incredible texture in the flowers.
Next, I was making the cover for a chipboard book for an online class I am taking, and I thought it needed a couple of flowers. Â I decided the Chantilly Collection blooms would be perfect. Â I added one blue poly/sheer blend flower from the blue Mixed Blooms ($4.99/bag of 6 flowers), and one sienna Velvet Hydrangea ($4.99/bag of 48 pieces). Â I absolutely LOVE the layering and texture of the Mixed blooms, and the feel of the Velvet Hydrangeas will blow you away. Â Also, there is a touch of glitter on the Hydrangeas, and the amount of flowers and leaves you get in the bag for the price is a great bargain!
I am just thrilled with these delightful blooms!  Prior to CHA, I really had no knowledge about Petaloo flowers, so I am happy to have a new brand of gorgeous, affordable flowers to choose from in my crafting. And that they are made from from recycled materials, to boot?  You just can’t get any better!  I give Petaloo blooms two thumbs up – I’d give them THREE if I had them (though some days I feel like I’m ALL thumbs!).  Give them a try – I promise you won’t be disappointed!
