Last week, I reviewed the Chantilly line of crafting flowers from Petaloo. Â This week, I am so excited to share with you another line from Petaloo – the Color Me Crazy line. Â This is a fun and unique line of flowers (both dimensional and flatter designs), images printed on a sort of foam material, die-cut dimensional images, and new trims – all of which are specifically designed for you to color them as YOU desire! Â Per the packaging, you can paint, ink, chalk, spritz or stamp them to add color.
One of the completely FABULOUS things about the Color Me Crazy line is that they are made from 100% recycled COTTON!! Â They all have a totally unique feel to them – even the foam-like designs – and as you will see below, stood up very well to all of my various coloring techniques. Â So you can have a blast creating all sorts of colored flowers – and feel good about the earth at the same time!
I chose to make an 8″ x 8″ scrapbook layout, using Donna Salazar’s Spring in Bloom “One Sheet Wonderful.” I picked three flowers from the Color Me Crazy Mixed Floral ($5.99/bag for 6 flowers), and two of the Petite Mini Roses ($5.99/bag for 10 flowers). Â I tried four different techniques for coloring the flowers, and was happy with each of the techniques!! Â I could have kept going…I absolutely LOVED coloring the flowers!!
The first flower, I sprayed with a combination of Clearsnap Smooch Spritz (in Wine Berry) and a homemade mist made from Pearl-Ex, gum arabic, and water. Â I love the shimmer and the variation in color, and the flower took the color very well.
The next flower, I decided to color with alcohol ink. Â I first saturated the flower with blending solution, straight from the bottle, to help the color move over the flower easily when I applied the ink. Â Then, I put a few drops of Denim alcohol ink on my craft mat, and using a water-pen, filled with blending solution, I picked up the ink and applied it to the flower. Â I was quite happy with the results and will definitely do this again!!
The third Mixed Bloom, I decided to try out my new Ranger Distress Stains on. Â I chose Spun Sugar, which is a light pink. Â I tapped the bottle top on my craft mat to activate the release valve and get the ink flowing, and once again, the flower took the color easily. Â It was a little harder to get the color ON the flower using the bottle, but it worked. Â It would probably be easier with a flatter flower, though.
Finally, for the two Petite Roses, I put a few drops of Golden Fluid Acrylic paints on my craft sheet, added a bit of water to make them more of a wash, and literally dipped the flowers in the paint. Â The flowers just soaked up the color SO easily – I didn’t even have to paint them! Â I loved the results!
And here is the final scrapbook page…I absolutely LOVE what the flowers add to the page, and that I was able to color them just the way I wanted for my page!!!
Once again, I was absolutely pleased with these flowers from Petaloo, and I think you will be as well! Â Not only are they beautiful and versatile, but they are affordable and earth-friendly. Â You can’t beat that!

Those are lovely — especially the one with the blue ink. Is there any word on where they will be available to the public?
