HEY! Welcome! I’m having an “Adhesive Week” here at Craft Test Dummies! We need all kinds of adhesives for all kinds of crafting, and I’m so glad to be able to share some new favorites with you.
To kick of Adhesive Week, I’m starting with a paper crafting adhesive, the Glue Arts‘ Glue Glider Pro. For those of you who might be unfamiliar, the Glue Glider is a dry-adhesive dispenser, unspooling a perforated line of double sided tape. It’s activated only by pressure, no triggers of buttons on this one. The GGP applies a line of adhesive about 1/4 of an inch wide.
I made a little brag book for my first project-so I was testing how the GGP worked on scrapbook paper, cardboard, cardstock, photographs, and even ribbon. The adhesive was easy to apply and held GREAT on all those surfaces!
The GGP performed really well- and I’ve been told by the books’ owner that it’s holding up beautifully. Even with scores of teenage hands manhandling it!
I also used the Glue Glider Pro on my Travel journal- I used it to adhere the folds of the watercolor paper together. I did notice some separation when I put a heavier item in the pocket. But then again, it was 85 degrees and high humidity when I was using it! In any event, I removed the offending item, pressed the pages back together, and came home. Still sticking!
I felt like I’d used the GGP for most common papercrafting/ home use items. Did I try to stick a penny to a piece of paper? Well, no. Because I don’t think that the Glue Glider Pro is really meant for that. (Actually, they have other product for that, like Extreme Adhesive Squares. But that’s a review for another day!)
So now I’d like to go over some of the “comfort” and “ease” aspects of the review- specifically, how easy it is to use straight out of the package.
The handle is ergonomic and fits really comfortably in the hand. (Compared the the industrial tape gun I’ve been using, this thing is a Godsend!) The clear casing allows you to see exactly how much tape you’ve got left, too- no more getting halfway through a project and then realizing you’re out of tape!
For that matter, the GGP is a little larger than most of the little, cheap adhesive runners I’ve used, and it holds a goodly amount of product. It’s a nice size for medium are larger projects- you won’t have to stop and re-load as often. Again, compared to the other dry adhesive runners or guns I’ve used, this is a huge bonus. Either the runners are comfortable to use and don’t hold enough product to get through a project, or they are too large (like my industrial one) and it’s unwieldy to use and difficult to store.
And my favorite feature of the Glue Glider Pro? How easy it is to change out the cartridge. Take a look at this little video:
Isn’t that great? I mean, if the the adhesive is good, then ease of use is the next most important thing- and the Glue Glider Pro wins in that category, hands down! So for that reason….
I give it the Craft Test Dummies Seal of Approval!
So here’s the nitty gritty: the Glue Glider Pro retails for $14.99, and the refills come in for $8.99 in the following versions:
- Perma Tac (what I used for this review)
- High Tac
- Repositionable
- 1/4 Perma Squares
- Fabric Bond (can’t wait to try that one!)
Have you used the Glue Glider Pro? Have an opinion to share? I’d love to hear from you…
Disclosure: I purchased the GGP from OhMyCrafts.com (who, by the way have it on sale for $10.00)- but then Glue Arts sent me a sample too. So….

Thanks for the wonderful review. I’ve never used the GGP but have thought many many times about purchasing. You’ve helped make my decision. 😉

Thanks for the fantastic review Jenny! I have used many adhesive runners and I have to say the Pro is the best! And now…I really feel that way!;-)

This is a real find! I’ll be on the lookout for one. I love glue runners but as you say, it’s frustrating when they give out on me halfway through a project.

I’ve been wondering about the GGP vs. the ATG. I think you may have just made up my mind for me…

I’m going to keep my eyes open to see if I can find one of these in my area. Thanks for the review!

I own this product and I have tried both the “Repositionable” and the “Perma Tac.” I like having access to a temporary adhesive once in awhile and this was my main use for the product. However,
the “Repositionable” is very much so, which isn’t always good. While you don’t necessarily want a product to stick permanently, you do need it to provide SOME stickiness. Once I started having issues, I decided that I would use the glider but only with the “Perma Tac” adhesive. It does a good job for what it is worth!

I have a glue glider and it is HORRIBLE. I have had two full refills break and then it goes to waste. It jams and doesnt work properly. If the LSS hadnt closed I would take it back and ask for a refund. DOnt waste your money!

I have the “Glue Glider Pro” Nice Size; however, when I roll it on something I want to glue it throws a same size piece of white shinny cover from the cartridge that hangs down and I have to rip it off?? Do you have any idea what that is and WHY?!!!! It is irritating as all get out!
