Dazzling Blue. According to Refinery 29, that is what the legendary color house Pantone, that will be “THE” color for 2014. Pantone released all of the colors in the spring fashion report in September.
Take a gander!
::in my best Ed McMahon announcer voice::
And now…heeeeeeere’s Dazzling BLUE!
{{Disclaimer: this was reported by Refinery29, and may not actually be the “official” color of the year.}}
What do you think? I like a nice blue- it goes well with my skin tone and hair, so I do have a tendency to wear this color. But do you think it will end up in our crafts?
Let’s remember the 2013 color, Emerald Green:
I’m going to be honest- I did buy ONE SHIRT in emerald green (again, it goes well with my skin and hair and reads well on-camera) but I did really use this color AT ALL in my crafting! I make lots of cards and tags but this color did NOT make it into my color palette!
But let’s go back to Dazzling Blue. Does it look familiar? It might- some folks think that it is actually FACEBOOK BLUE. Hmm.
I personally like a darker hue of blue- more of a navy blue. Pantone Navy Blue, in fact, is right up my alley. And the navy color shows up in my holiday cards this year:
One could also argue that the Sand color Pantone is showcasing for spring has already shown up in crafting by the way of burlap and the kraft paper trend, no? And that Paloma is a soft grey that could also be interpreted as a silver. Just sayin’!
So I guess my holiday cards are right on-trend!
What do you think? Do you find yourself drawn to any of the 2014 colors? Would you (or do you already) see them popping up in your crafts? Do you have a pick other than Dazzling Blue from the Color Report? (I’m betting on Cayenne.)

Not Color of the Year I believe. It hasn’t been announced yet (not till early December). This was just part of the Spring Color Report. http://www.pantone.com/pages/pantone/Pantone.aspx?pg=21070&ca=10

Corinne- I used this as my source: http://www.refinery29.com/2013/09/52673/pantone-2014-color-dazzling-blue
I modified my post to cite my source that it wasn’t Pantone’s announcement. But we’ll see, right? It has to be one of the ones in the palette.
Happy to clarify.

Phyllis- and we’ll see when the “official” statement comes out next month if Dazzling Blue is indeed the choice.

It seems like their color of the year never really takes off in popularity that year…either in the next couple or not at all.

I have to agree though that the ‘Dazzling Blue’ is a pretty color! It’s very easy to pair with any other color and pleasing to the eye. Looks great on the card you made too!

I like all the colours except the yellow, orange and Dazzling blue. I hope it’s not the colour of the year. I’m thrilled to see so many mid-tones and soft colours. I love the navy blue you picked!
