Looking for Crafters & Designers
Posted on 23. Nov, 2009 by Jenny in Craft News
It’s been a long, long week at the Costco Roadshow in Strongsville, OH. In case you missed the tweets, I was part of the Costco Grand Opening and spent a week on-location demonstrating the Cricut Expressions machine (and accessories) for ProvoCraft. (That’s a pic of the booth I took with my phone, and that’s my new friend Thea White, the cartridge Goddess. She knows every Cricut cartridge by heart, I swear!!)
It was a great time, and I was pleased so many friends/fans stopped by to visit. I even ran into some former co-workers who couldn’t believe that my new gig is as a Crafting Maven- they know me from my Music Therapist days….
So now I’m home and gearing up for The Next Big Thing (drum roll, please!!!) ….working for another craft blog! As you may know I write for Craft Critique, but I’ve been invited to create a WHOLE NEW crafting blog for a local-yet-national craft supplies company, ConsumerCrafts.com. It is an on-line retail site, and I’ll be working with them by doing the blog, running the Twitter feeds, and managing the Facebook Fan page.
We’re hoping for a January launch to the blog- but in the meantime, I’m assembling a team of designers to help put together top-notch crafts, tool highlights, product review, and a catalogue of techniques. If you know someone, or ARE someone who might be interested in designing for a national craft company, leave me a comment. Ther are only a few requirements that I have at this point:
- You must already be blogging on your own site or for someone else
- You must be a decent writer
- You must be a GREAT Craft designer/maker
- You’re happy to work for product and promotion!
If these statements fit YOU or someone you know, please leave a comment and a URL so I can check out your work!
Also, get a jump on following my Consumer_Crafts tweets- there will be some cool stuff goin’ down- coupons, giveaways, and whatnots…. and don’t forget to Fan Craft Test Dummies AND ConsumerCrafts the next time you are on FB.

Jenny – I really enjoyed meeting you yesterday and talking to you in Shannon Okey’s studio! I’m primarily a self-taught mixed media & collage artist and make items like the jointed art doll ATC’s. I’ve been so wrapped up (yes, I’m being punny) in Christmas craft shows and preparing for Christmas at home that I’ve completely neglected my blog of late, but please feel free to visit it at http://barkerbellherbsandheirlooms.blogspot.com for an idea of my writing style. Also feel free to tweet @barkerbell . I’d be more than happy to send you pics of other projects as well. I’d absolutely love to collaborate with you on this!

Mike- thanks for your interest. I’ve been checking out your blog- nice- and peeked in your Etsy shop. It seems that you are really into sewing crafts. Do you do any other crafting? We will not be doing sewing on CraftsUnleashed, but would be interested in general or kids crafts. Thanks, Jenny

Eileen- Hi! Thanks so much for responding to our designer call! I’m with you, a lot is going to have to wait until CHA is over. BTW, I’d LOVE to review your new Scoreboards- just saw an ad for them in a papercrafts mag I was reading. Cool.
Will you be at CHA again this year? I’m going, and we certainly should meet up and chat! Happy New Year, Jenny

Trish- I checked out your blog, and it looks like you are primarily into jewelry. Is that right? Do you do other crafts? Right now we have a jewelry person (not that we won’t add another or could use one later) but I’m also looking for some other “general” type crafters. Let me know what else you like to do and/or send me some examples of your work! Thanks, Jenny

Neha- thank you for your interest in blogging for my new craft blog. I took a look at your site and sadly did not see any examples of your crafts! If you get a portfolio of craft projects together, feel free to get back in touch. Take care, Jenny
