I’m a fabric and fiber crafter at heart, and CHA Winter 2012 certainly did not disappoint. Between demos and events, I hit the aisles to check out what was new in the crafting world, keeping an eye out for exciting developments in the fabric, needle, and yarn arts. Per usual, I saw way more great products and ideas on the show floor than I could ever fit into one roundup post, but here are some of my very favorite finds:

Babyville Boutique:

I’m not a mom, but I’m seriously excited about the new Babyville Boutique line from Prym Consumer USA. Unlike many fabric and notions lines designed with babies in mind, Babyville Boutique isn’t all pastel pinks and blues. There are some seriously fun primary color combinations available in their waterproof fabrics, appliques, and fasteners, so the line can be used for projects across the crafting spectrum.

Needless to say, I am absolutely obsessed with the patterned fold-over elastic. Polka dots for everyone!

Kwik Sew Ellie Mae Collection:

The McCall Pattern Company recently acquired Kwik Sew, and I’m seriously digging the newly introduced Ellie Mae line. The available patterns look both practical and pretty, and I especially like these stash boxes. I can’t wait to try out the potluck companion patternthat I brought home!

Tulip ScreenIt:

Pretty much everyone on Team CTD was geeked about the Tulip ScreenItscreen printing machine. And, with pre-emulsified screens and only 15 minutes needed to burn designs, who wouldn’t be? I’m a sucker for kits, and this one looks fantastic!

Sizzix Big Shot Pro:

While not specifically made for fabric crafts, the gigantic Big Shot Profrom Sizzix definitely caught my attention. When I’m not at the sewing machine, I’m all about DIY home improvement projects, and the huge 12″ wide cutting space opens up a lot of possibilities for large-scale cutting and embossing. I’m sure that all of my paper crafting friends are drooling just a little bit too!

Patterned Zippers from Coats & Clark:

I adore the idea of using zippers as statement pieces. When done right, they can be every bit as fashionable as buttons! Case in point, these fun polka dot zippers from Coats & Clark can be used traditionally, or they can do double duty as a craft supply that can be used to create textured designs and flowers. They also come in camo print, if you’re so inclined.

That wraps up my favorites, but stay tuned for future reviews and more CHA coverage to come!
