After a long weekend at CHA, I had an even longer drive home (about 7 hours), and I thought about all the things I’d seen in my 2.5-ish days at the show. And there was a lot. Lots of lots. But I kept coming back to one thing. Sticky. There was a lot of sticking going on at CHA 2014.
Many of the brands I was talking to either were already involved in, and expanding, their line of adhesives. Others were adding adhesives to their existing product offerings. Things at CHA were… sticky.
Let me explain.
The Duck Brand is known for their Duck Tape, which now comes in lots of fun patterns and designs. They also offer “Ducklings”, which are mini rolls of less-wide patterned Duck Brand Tape. Now they have new Duck Tape Fabric. It comes in rolls and sheets, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it to play with it and see what it can really do!
Krazy Glue was getting crafty at CHA. We all know Krazy Glue as the fast-drying super glue for fixing toys (or securing hard hats to metal beams if you remember that commercial from the 80’s). Now they are coming out with new Krazy Glue crafting formulas. I’m sure we’ll be getting some at CTD WHQ, and you’ll get a full review on the new formulas, and what they do. I can tell you I’ve played around with it a little, and it works just like the Krazy Glue I remember – super strong bond, super fast.
Also at CHA was an adhesive that isn’t an adhesive. Amazing Tape is like a super-strong cling wrap, great for keeping thread, ribbon, or yarn in place on a roll or spool, but equally good for securing a broken handle, or attaching things together. We’ll have more on Amazing Tape in a future post as well.
Camelot Fabrics, a company out of Canada, has added adhesive to the back of their fabric as well.
AND they’ve added adhesive to the back of their wonderful felts as well! Pre-adhesive decorative felt for crafting? Yes please!
DecoArt showed their new Decou-page product. A decopauge medium offered in several finishes. The single project I created using the glitter finish Decou-page dried well with no tackiness. I’m sure we’ll have a full review of the Decou-page in upcoming months.
Even Swarovski had some adhesive going on. They have a two-part epoxy clay called Ceralun that you can coat an object with. Then you push crystals into the material to secure them. The Ceralun hardens over two hours, giving you lots of time to play with your design. I had a chance to play with some at the show, and here is a great video made by the folks at the Hallmark Channel, who also came to CHA, if you want to learn more.
Make sure you check out the other great posts on CHA 2014 here on Craft Test Dummies – we had several members of the team out and about, and we all came home with our own individual (and awesome) experiences!

Want to see the video by Hallmark. Could you tell me how I can see it please?

Something in the coding removed it… but I’ve added it back in for you now, so you can go back up to the post and click play! 🙂
Thanks for letting me know!

I’ve actually had wonder tape for ages but I forgot where I bought it so I’ve been hoarding it! Glad to see it’s more available now so I can get more and use what I’ve got! Yeah! The clay Swarovski is selling is a type of epoxy clay which I think you’ve reviewed before.

Really interested in seeing more of the Ceralun and the Amazing Tape. Probably the two most fascinating things I’ve seen come from CHA.

LOVE these sticky goodies!! I am somewhat of an adhesive addict and love anything that sticks and if it is pretty that is a major bonus!! TFS!
