I have a love affair with paper – and yes, I’ll admit that I do tend to hold onto it longer than I should. Â I am getting better about it, though…I read a tip somewhere that recommended using a bit of your favorite papers in your art journal so you’ll always have it to remember. Â I thought it was a good tip.
Anyway. Â Given my paper love, I was super happy to receive several sheets from Authentique’s Glowing line, along with a sheet of the “Noteables” and a sheet of the “Icons” (both are coordinating die-cut cardstock elements). Â I am really impressed with the quality of the paper – it is a nice thickness, it took ink/sprays/paint well, and the colors are vibrant. Â I thought I’d put together a couple of quick Halloween projects to show you.
Since I tend to be pretty lazy about scrapbooking, I went ahead and made a 12×12 scrapbook layout – all ready for me to just add a photo once we’ve done our Halloween festivities for the year. Â I started with a sheet of the Orange Grunge Dot. Â I distressed the edges, then inked them. Â Next I cut a 5×7 piece of the Black Script paper to be my photo mat. Â I distressed and inked the edges, and glued it down. Â I then splattered some brown acrylic ink and orange spray ink over the page, and misted the entire page with a light colored shimmery mist.
I added a couple of the coordinating die-cuts below the photo mat. Â I used my die-cutting machine to make 3 rosettes from my remaining paper, and added 3 of the die-cut punch-outs to top the rosettes. Â I placed two of them below the photo mat.
I used a length of black glitter tulle to make a rolled rosette, on which I placed the final rosette, and adhered it above the photo mat, and my page was finished.
My second project was inspired by a project I originally spied on Pinterest (which can be completely addicting – don’t you agree?!) which now I can’t find to save my life…why I didn’t pin it when I first saw it, I have no idea! Â Alas, it was cute, and all I remember is there were cans and they had been covered in burlap!
I stripped the paper off of three tin cans. Â (I also used the kind of can opener which separates the top completely from the can, leaving no sharp edges.) Â I used a hot glue gun to attach the burlap to the cans. Â I added trims, and then added some inked die-cuts from the Glowing line. Â I also stamped and embossed an owl image onto a scrap of paper, which I cut out and added to one of the cans. Â These cans would be great for holding candy, silverware for a ghoulish party, pens, art supplies – whatever you can think of – and they were super easy and fast to make!
Have you tried any of Authentique’s lines yet? Â What do you think? Â And what about Halloween crafts? Â What spooky or not-so-spooky things have you created this year?
