Hey, Crafty friends! Today is Independence Day here in the US, and we are going to celebrate by attending our community parade (my son will be marching), having a cook out at our friend’s house (also on the parade route) and some quiet family time before the fireworks-and traffic- begins tonight! How do you celebrate the Fourth?
I’m going to leave you with a few pics I took last year when we visited our nation’s capital and toured the White House, Library of Congress, and many monuments..
I wanted to share these with you because often I am SO inspired by travel and what I see in art and architecture. It inspires me to try new motifs, include great quotes or even color schemes! How about you?
PS- enjoy the holiday, we’ll be back on Monday! : )
PPS- You can still enter last week’s giveaway- it closes soon! Hurry….

We visited DC in May of 2001, months before 9/11 so there wasn’t much security and you could go alot of places you can’t go now. Although the WWII Memorial and the MLK statue wasn’t there yet. The architecture, statues, the Capitol, all the museums were all amazing. We spent 8 days there and still didn’t see it all. Anyone who has the chance to go should do so. My favorite memorial was FDR. Anybody else have a favorite?

My husband and I are visiting our daughter in Chantilly, VA and will be enjoying our nation’s fireworks display this evening. I can’t think of a more interesting place to visit on the 4th of July. Everyone should visit our nation’s capital at least once in their lives. It is steeped in history and the monuments are breathtaking. It inspires us to remember all our military hero’s who fought so that we could remain free!
