Last year I shared with you my BTS CHA 2014: Behind the Scenes with Vicki post from CHA and I thought I would do the same this year. It’s fun to go to CHA as a designer member and as a member of the media for Craft Test Dummies. I get to attend lots of great functions and chat with some amazingly creative people.
The first event I attended was on Friday evening and it was the “Designer Sneak Peek”. This event gives CHA Designer Members an opportunity to see some of the newest products that will be hitting the show floor when it opens the next day.
Some of my favorite items from the Sneak Peek are the Royal & Langnickel Zentangle kits. The zentangle substrate is shaped in circles, hexagons, squares etc and there is a book to help get you started.
I also liked the extra large blank, foam, puzzle pieces from Patty Pop Ons. Not only is it a unique substrate but it is a great idea for group projects.
One of my favorite companies, Clover USA has introduced a new mini loom that I’m dying to create with.
Also Buckle Boutique teamed up with Marisa Pawelko to enhance their adhesive backed rhinestone material with her artwork.
Finally, fellow designer Jill McKay introduced Lite Seeds at the show. Lite Seeds allow you to add small LED sticker lights to your paper crafting projects.
When the show opened on Saturday morning I was in the Krylon booth as their special guest. Above are many of the projects I made for the booth along with my new favorite finishes – Sea Glass & Chalky Finish. I haven’t even gotten to create with those new products as they are SO NEW. I loved meeting and chatting with so many bloggers and other members of the press.
I also spend a couple of hours in the Prime Publishing booth right after my time in the Krylon booth doing a make and take with products from iLoveToCreate.
Finally! A chance to walk the show floor – Did you see Yarnia? It was amazing!
On Sunday I did a Make & Take in the Smoothfoam booth where we made cupcake photo holders and then I had several meetings. It was a jam packed day.
On Monday I spend the whole day on the show floor. This was my day to connect with my people in the jewelry making world. Be sure to check out my post CHA Show 2015 – New Jewelry Products to Watch For. I’m crazy about the new products I’m seeing coming out for jewelry making and can’t wait to review some of them for you.
I tried to keep it low key this year as I’ve just finished up treatment for breast cancer (You can read my story here). I was busy but I also planned several small rest times during the day so I could do what I needed to do. It was another fantastic show. I’m so thankful that I get to work in this industry!
I hope you like this behind the scenes look. Stay tuned for some exciting new jewelry making tools!
