This year at CHA seasoned designer and crafter, Ken Oliver, debuted his very own line of paper products and stamps at the show. Ken has four new paper lines as well as color bursts, stamp pegz and click-it stamp pads. We were fortunate enough to have Ken show us some of these new fabulous products in a few video demos. Cannot wait to try the Colorbursts and I have the pegz and LOVELOVELOVE them!! Ken has created so many awesome new and innovative products that are going to change the way I create!! We better keep our eye on Ken because I think he is taking the craft world by the ears and shaking things up in a good way!!

I saw a poster for the Color Bursts in a booth at the Lawrenceville, GA Rubber Stamp Show in January but couldn’t find the product. When I asked if they would be doing a demo for these powdered water colors, I was told that they had almost sold out and wouldn’t be doing a demo because there wasn’t enough product to go around if people saw them and wanted them. I looked so disappointed that they pulled out what they did have and I was able to get a bottle of each color. I have experimented with them and LOVE them! The colors are amazingly brilliant. My only problem is that I tend to use more powder than I really need to… I am going to have to learn to have some restraint. I am not used to such concentrated color but I love having that density of color, if I want it. I was a bit concerned about the small size of the bottle but, believe me, there is plenty!!

Not impressed with the Color Bursts from Ken Oliver Crafts. You could do the same with wet watercolor paper, washes of regular watercolor paint, kosher salt and a hairdryer. Much easier and less expensive.

I love how the letters snap together. I’ll have to look into those. I also like how the ink pad does great edging. All too often your ink pad slides around and you get this icky streak on your paper. I’m not into the watercolor blobby look, though.

I agree with Laura P in that I would like to see the snap-together letters in Michael’s soon. My handwriting is not the best.
