Craft Product Review: Clover Heart Yo-Yo Maker
OK, so I sew. Usually on the machine, but occasionally I do some hand-work. And for some reason I am captivated by yo-yo’s. I was out at JoAnn’s the other day, ran across the Clover Heart Yo-Yo Maker, and got sucked in. Since I’d never made them before – any type of yo-yo – I thought it would be great to buy the tool and check it out. First off, had to say that the instructions were great! They included […]
Clover Create-a-Strap Review
When I reviewed Nancy Zieman’s Trace N Create Tablet Keeper pattern, I had no idea I was about to fall in love. This wasn’t the gentle, slip into love… this was heart-stopping love. I completely fell for the Clover Create a Strap. I have no idea where this product has been all my life. I’ve been making straps the hard way for a long, long time. The Create a Strap is a system that makes creating perfect straps effortless. Here […]

Shamrock Yo-Yo Maker by Clover
If you’ve been around CraftTestDummies a while, you know I’m a huge fan of Yo-Yo makers by Clover. (Read my review of the heart-shaped yo-yo maker here.) This year I saw that they came out with the “shamrock” shape and I had. To. Have. It. Like the other yo-yo makers, the Shamrock Yo-Yo Maker set consists of a template and a tray, which pop together. You put your fabric, right side down into the tray, then pop in the template […]
Yo Yo Heart Hair Clips for Valentine’s day!
I made these last year, but I thought I’d give you a quick tutorials on making them yourself. They are SO cute for a little- or big- girl’s hair! You’ll need: white craft glue, like tacky glue or Sobo (“super” glue optional) about 6 inches of velvet ribbon, 1/2 inch wide (grosgrain will work in a pinch. The velvet actually helps to grip the hair, and keep the clip from sliding out. Do NOT use satin ribbon for this reason.) […]
Valentine’s Day Cards – and More Heart Yo-Yo’s!
So you knew this was coming – Valentine’s day cards with heart yo-yo’s on them! I used the smaller heart yo-yo maker, and whipped up two for my cards to Mom and Sis. I used some Strathmore cards (just watercolor paper card blanks) and a smudged on some chalks to create the background. I also dusted on some pearl-ex gold powder to add some shimmer to it. I added some felt lace and photo corners, and then cut a 2 […]
Yo Yo Heart Hair Clips
I’m still loving those yo-yo makers from Clover- so much so, that I actually bought the whole set of ’em. (4 circles, 2 hearts, 2 flowers-gasp!) So I was using the smaller heart yo-yo’s to whip up a little v-day goodness for baby girl. These are what I came up with: I’ve made a pair of each style, and can hardly wait to make some with the flower yo-yo set! To read my review of the Clover Heart Yo-Yo Maker, […]
Cute Hair Clips on CraftsUnleashed!
Hey, crafty friends! I’ve been crafting up a storm for a series of posts on CraftsUnleashed on fabric crafts and “Christmas in July” crafts. So I’m sharing some goodness over here, too. If you’ve read my blog for a while, you know I love Yo-Yo’s. (The fabric ones, not the toy things.) I even reviewed the Clover Heart Shaped Yo Yo maker and the Clover Shamrock Yo Yo maker. But today, I’m keeping it simple with circles. I won’t bore […]
Easy Quilled Shamrock Card for St. Patrick’s Day
I love quilling! The act of twirling little paper strips into something lovely is a bit magical for me. While I came up with the card idea a few years ago, I’ve now updated it to include a quick 2-minute video showing you how to make this cut quilled shamrock. And if you need a lucky clover, just add one more leaf and you are good to go! There are some handy links affiliate shopping links below for your convenience. […]
Yarn Review: Martha Stewart Wool Roving Yarn by Lion Brand
I am a super-novice knitter and crocheter. I can make a mean dishcloth and slightly-wonky scarf, and not much else. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t love- and use- yarn in my crafting. I mean, who doesn’t need a pom-pom wreath or some eyelash-fringe on an art quilt? So I decided to share my perspective of the new Martha Stewart Wool Roving Yarn by Lion Brand with you here today. Here’s how it is described on the website: Article […]
Craft Product Review: SuperClear Resin by Resin Obsession
I enjoy using resin in some of my jewelry and mixed-media projects, but I know it’s intimidating to some. There’s mixing involved, and often the materials are considered “toxic.” Then there is the question of what resin is best for what applications. Today I’m reviewing SuperClear Resin: a non-toxic, 2-part casting resin for jewelry making from ResinObsession. This is unlike other 2-part resins I’ve used, both because it’s non-toxic and because it’s really just for casting objects in molds. But […]
Jo-Jo ClownYo-Yo Doll
When I first got on my “yo-yo” kick, my mom commented to me that when she was a young teenager, she made a clown doll out of yo-yo’s for her first nephew. (She says all she can remember is cutting out zillions of circles!) Anyway, I did a little research and found the pattern at Sunshine’s Creations. There are great step-by-step instructions. It’s a great “retro” craft, and a fabulous way to use up some fabric scraps. Since I’m also […]
