I love to use up EVERY LITTLE BIT of crafty stuff from my testing- and that means using up extra die cuts, random rhinestones, and even the paper that I spray mist/paint on! Watch this video to see how I transform the “dirty paper” into fabulous background paper using Mod Podge Sparkle! Happy Holiday weekend and get crafting! I’ve got to get this box of cards out to OperationWriteHome.org ASAP!

You may recall that earlier I reviewed the Artisan X-Plorer by Spellbinders. While I like the compact size and metal gears, I was somewhat disappointed by it’s ability to cut thicker materials such as denim and plastics. Well, the Spellbinders folks heard my cry (or maybe they were just lightyears ahead of me!) and debuted a METAL SHIM at CHA summer this year. This little baby makes ALL the difference! Really, it’s just a metal plate that creates a firmer […]
Although I have enjoyed knitting for many years, I have never really ventured beyond the basic dishcloth. Fair Isle knitting has always intrigued me, but I’ve never been brave enough to give it a try. Its intricate patterns are intimidating at best. Lynne Watterson’s craft book, The Very Easy Guide ot Fair Isle Knitting was just the nudge I needed to step out of my yarn comfort zone. The front cover reads “step-by-step techniques, easy-t0-follow stitch patterns, and […]
A former financial analyst, Sudie Alexander retired from Corporate America to stay home with her small children. Between burps and banishing dust bunnies, Sudie found her joy while crafting. She dabbled in knitting, crocheting, and papercrafts, to name a few. During this time, Sudie met some like-minded creative folks who encouraged her to submit her creations to various publications and one thing led to another. Sudie’s work has been published in books and magazines, shown at craft and hobby […]
Sometimes you need to recharge your creative batteries with a change of scenery. For me, I like to got to museums, take nature walks, go thrifting, or visit some craft stores. Last Friday, my craft BFF Vicki O’Dell and I met up in the lovely Medina, Ohio to check out a bead shop, eat some lunch, and recharge those batteries together! We met up and headed off to the Potomac Bead Shop– an amazingly renovated two-level storefront just off the […]
So, rarely do I share scrapbook layouts here. First off, I’m not a big scrapbooker in the traditional sense, and secondly…well, I’m just not that good at it! But when I was asked to come back to Scrapbook Soup and tape some segments for next season, I thought I’d better dust off my scrapbooking skills and make at least ONE traditional scrapbook page. But since my inclinations lean toward the mixed-media side of things (read: I love to be artsy-fartsy […]
I ran across a bunch of great things at the Summer 2013 Create-N-Connect #CHAshow… and these little gems are one of them. Literally stopping me in my tracks, 3D Foam Adhesive Shapes from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L are a great blend of form and function in a convenient package. These foam sheets have adhesive on both sides, protected by release paper. However, instead of your simple dots or squares, these foam stickers have fun SHAPES… such as hearts, wings, flowers, […]
OK, I know I have reviews stacking up to the ceiling. But before I buckle down and get a-testing, I needed to play a bit. You know what I mean? Of course you do. Crafters are like that. We can *have* to make a gift or card, but really we might be itching to do something completely different. We’re fickle like that. So anyway, I got these sweet stamps that I saw on HSN- they are a part of Lisa […]
When I think of oil paints, I think of a beret-wearing French artist on the banks of the Seine, staring off into the sunset and dabbing at a palette. But anyone can get a hold of oil paint, including a scaredy-cat crafter like me. Shiva Paintstiks are a handy version that puts the paint into a pretty easy-to-use form. Paintstiks® are solid oil paints in stick-form that easily blend straight from your stick onto paper, board or canvas. Great […]

Hello crafters, today we are reviewing Imagine Crafts Creative Mediums. There are three kinds of Creative Medium; Clear, vintage and shimmer. Today I’m going to be showing you the clear and vintage mediums. So what are Creative Mediums? ” Acrylic-based Creative Medium, an incredibly versatile crafting tool. For collage artists, this will be your first choice for both an adhesive and finishing layers that dries translucent. One of the things I love most about DIY is the opportunity for each maker to customize new projects in a way that incorporates her/his own personal style. And, since I’m a fabric and fiber crafter who’s pretty particular about shapes, color, and design, I always keep a special eye out for fun fabric and fiber customization tools and products while I’m walking the show floor. So, in my final CHA Summer 2013 post, I’ll give you a quick look […]
This Summer at CHA Tim Holtz revelaed he has an exciting collaboration with Stampers Anonymous and Sizzix in the form of Stamp and Die packs! These fabulous packs include a set of rubber stamps and multiple thin-ruled dies for each stamp so you can layer these images to your heart’s desire! These were created with the crafter’s in mind that do not own the Sizzix eClips but still wanted to die-cut around your favorite Tim Holtz stamps and images. Take […]

I am a fan of Spellbinders Paper Arts and a GI-NORMOUS fan of kids and teens getting involved with crafting! So it’s a really big deal that Spellbinders has been chosen from a group of CHA members to be part of the Gift Lounge at the Teen Choice Awards this weekend! I’m so happy for Spellbinders (and all of us crafters out there) that a CRAFT COMPANY is part of the Gift Lounge. I don’t know if the crafts are […]
Jenny shows you how to create a fun, durable, and stylish pencil pouch from Duck Tape ™. Step-out photos.
This week I attended the semi-annual Craft and Hobby Association trade show. I’m not a newbie to CHA, but this was the first time I’d been able to attend the summer show and it was the first time I’ve been able to attend in my own backyard – they had the summer show in Las Vegas this year! There was lots to see, and more that I will share, but the thing that thrilled me to the bottom of my […]
Hello Crafters! It was hustling and bustling around Dyan Reaveley‘s table at the Ranger Ink booth at this Summer’s CHA; Everyone wanted to see what Dyan was going to be doing with her brand new Ink Spray pad. Below is the first of two videos of Dyan showing off some incredible and fun techniques using this new and versatile product! Dyan was kind enough to autograph one of the tags she made in the above video for us to giveaway […]
The scrapbooking industry has been going through some changes the past couple of CHA shows and focusing on new products with more of a mixed media spin. While I’m not a scrapbooker I am a mixed media junkie from way back. This show certainly didn’t disappoint in new products for mixed media art. Here are some of my favorite projects I found at the CHA show this summer. Faber-Castell has added mixed media books that promise not […]
